Travertine Terraces & Abandoned Fortresses: The Truso Valley 4x4
Written by Zura Gachechiladze (Expedition Driver)
Truso Gorge feels like entering another dimension. The Terek River cuts through a canyon of red and yellow mineral deposits, where bubbling travertine springs paint the valley floor in surreal volcanic hues.
Driving our 4x4 Delicas through the Kasara Gorge requires high clearance and experienced throttle control over shale beds. The rewards are immense: visiting Zakagori Fortress perched on an isolated hill and drinking naturally sparkling mineral water straight from the mountain.
Travel tip: Bring your passport, as border guards check documentation near the border zone.
